The Lofts (and the art gallery, the posh market and the wine store) at River East Art Center

Click for larger imageSpeaking of Streeterville, as we were a little earlier, the MCL Companies is gearing up to open sales at The Lofts at River East Art Center, a conversion of the upper portion of a six-story brick building at 445 E Illinois St. Floors four through six will contain one- to three-bedroom timber lofts, and the developer also plans to add two floors of new-construction concrete penthouses. The eponymous art gallery will remain on the first floor. We must say that there’s something very civilized about living in a building containing an art gallery, a purveyor of fine wines and a Fox & Obel market, as this one does. But wait, there’s more: across the street, MCL is creating a 74,000-square-foot park.

The developer hasn’t finalized prices but anticipates opening a on-site sales center in March.
