73 East Lake apartment tower gains Plan Commission approval

The Chicago Architecture Blog is reporting that the 42-story, 332-unit rental tower proposed for 73 East Lake St has been approved by the Chicago Plan Commission.

Plan Commission approval is just one of the milestones that the project must pass before beginning construction, and it’s no guarantee that the development will progress further.

The project is entering a growing roster of competing new apartment developments in downtown Chicago. Our list and map of new downtown Chicago apartment projects includes details on more than 10,000 new apartments, more than 3,500 of which are under construction.
