It’s no secret that we’re fans of Aqua, the new-construction high-rise in Lakeshore East that New Homes magazine recently named best new high-rise. Apparently, we’re not the only ones. After only two months on the market, an impressive 70 percent of the 263 condominiums have already sold, according to Magellan Development Corporation. The secret behind Aqua’s quick sales? Much emphasis has been placed on the architect, Jeanne Gang, of Studio / Gang / Architects, and her rippling, unique facade (er, we mean the design for Aqua’s facade).
Along with condominiums, Aqua also will include 476 rental units, 210 hotel rooms and 50,000 square feet of retail space. According to Magellan, Aqua is the first high-rise in Chicago to do so. Studios, one-bedrooms and two-bedrooms are priced from the $360s, with first occupancy scheduled for summer 2008.
