Chicago open house: Out and about this weekend

Welcome to Chicago open house, a round-up of interesting real estate events slated for the upcoming weekend and beyond. An early heads-up: Kargil Development is hosting a “grand opening gala” for its much-ballyhooed South Loop high-rise development, X / O Condominiums. The sales gallery is at 1712 S Prairie Ave and is open Saturday, Nov 18 and Sunday, Nov 19 from 11 am to 6 pm. Complimentary parking is at 18th and Prairie, by the way.

Other new kids on the block: 1349 South Wabash Private Residences held a soft opening for friends and family last weekend. It’s the first foray into the downtown market for Chinatown developers See Y Wong, Tony Kwok and Tony Hu. We hear the high-rise is averaging around $350 a square foot, and the studio- to two-bedroom units are priced from around the $170s to the $380s, but it’s been difficult to confirm details because they haven’t returned numerous calls and the Web site hasn’t really hit its stride. Given the developers’ name recognition in Chinatown, the project may well draw a number of buyers from that neighborhood. Already, the South Loop is popular with residents of Chinatown, according to real estate agents. Hopefully we’ll have more on that project next week.

And finally: Jameson Realty threw a grand opening bash last night for Marquette Row in River West (pictured), a development of 45 two- and three-bedroom condos in five new-construction buildings at 675 – 693 N Peoria St. Sales opened at the first two buildings about two weeks ago. Units are priced from the $330s to the $550s, including parking. The on-site open house is Saturday, Nov 11 from 1pm to 4pm.
