Lofts at Bridgeport Place – once a South Sider always a South Sider?

Lofts at Bridgeport PlaceWe told you a while back that Dubin Residential was milking the White Sox World Series victory to sell units at The Lofts at Bridgeport Place. It seems the strategy is working. Dubin reports that the majority of its buyers are South Siders. Is it a case of once a South Sider, always a South Sider? Dubin’s Mike Kelahan reports that empty nesters from the southern suburbs are buying “in-towns” or downsizing full-time at The Lofts at Bridgeport Place, 1024 W 35th St.

“They don’t see themselves as a River North kind of person and Millennium Park is too expensive or flashy,” Kelahan said in a recent interview. Also attracted to the development are young professionals who grew up on the South Side and have been renting in neighborhoods such as the Loop and Lincoln Park but realize they can get more for their money in Bridgeport and want to return to their roots, Kelahan said. A third demographic of buyers was Bridgeport locals.

So whaddya think? Once a South Sider, always a South Sider at heart?
