Chicago open house: Yogi's picks for the weekend

When we heard about the new 24-unit Wilton Schubert condo development in Lincoln Park we intially thought Mr Schubert must have been some long-forgotten pioneer or a crusty old-money blue-blood. Turns out we were wrong on both counts as we found out when we took a closer look at the addresses for the vintage conversion project, which are 914 – 924 W Schubert Ave and 2701 – 2707 N Wilton Ave. The on-site sales center for SBR Enterprises’ development opened last week and will be open this Saturday and Sunday from 1 pm to 4 pm.

In other development news: It’s hard to keep up with Centrum Properties’ many soft openings, pre-openings and sneak preview openings for The Lofts at Roosevelt Collection, but the latest word is that there’s a GRAND opening scheduled for Saturday, November 18 at the sales center at 709 S Clark St. The sales center, we’re told, is open Saturdays from 11 am to 5 pm, so we assume those are the opening hours tomorrow, although we couldn’t confirm that. And finally: just when you thought there weren’t any vintage courtyard apartment buildings left to convert in East Rogers Park, Jameson Realty Group and an unnamed small-time developer bring you The Yellowstone (no link yet), a 27-unit project of two- to three-bedroom simplexes and duplexes priced from the $190s to the $320s. My advice? Be smarter than the average bear, and hold out for a plasma TV, at the very least, on this one; there have been so many damn conversions in this neighborhood.
