Whatever else you might think about the Chicago Housing Authority’s Plan for Transformation — “the largest reconstruction of public housing in the nation’s’ history — you have to credit the way they’ve visualized it.
The CHA Web site offers up a series of computer-animated 3-D videos intermixed with historical footage and photos, maps and more. See (Windows Media Player) the plan overview, and segments on Cabrini-Green, Jazz on the Boulevard (Drexel Blvd), Hilliard Homes, the Madden — Wells — Darrow Homes in Bronzeville, Rockwell Gardens, Stateway Gardens, the Robert Taylor Homes, Westhaven Park and Lake Park Crescent.
The videos are somewhat repetitive, but well worth watching nonetheless.
