This squat stone turret of a home doesn’t look like most of its Norwood Park neighbors, or anything other single-families that went on the market in the past day, so of course I had to take a look at the listing. A few single-families in the far northwest community area of Norwood Park are listed above half a million, but most of them are found in the portions of the neighborhood north of the Kennedy Expressway; south of the expressway, in the smaller neighborhood of Oriole Park, they’re few and far between, and this is the only one near the actual Oriole Park.
According to the listing from Realtor Arlene Zingsheim, the 3,000 square-foot, five bedroom / 3.5 bath home at 5421 N Osceola Ave is “95% new,” and features hardwood floors throughout; a gourmet kitchen with granite countertops and cherry cabinets; a family room with a wood-burning fireplace and patio doors leading to a partly covered deck; a formal dining room with French doors; a master suite with a fireplace, Jacuzzi, and private deck; a loft space; a full finished basement with a gas fireplace, a bar, and stone details; and a three-car garage.
The home is inside the boundaries for Oriole Park Elementary School, which ranked just behind Lincoln and Bell in the Sun-Times’ latest list of the city’s best elementary schools.
