A 6-bedroom, 3-bath bungalow on an East Wilmette cul-de-sac

Bungalows are as common as hyper-cute 4-year olds in Wilmette, so it wasn’t the home style that drew me to an open house several blocks from the Linden Purple Line stop.

I had two reasons for visiting 201 Golf Terrace: at $649,000 it was one of the lowest-priced single-family homes in East Wilmette, and it was on one of the very few streets in Wilmette I’d never been on before.

David, one of the owners of this expanded, renovated bungalow, showed me around the spacious first floor, which has a lot of character, and the great two-level deck off the family room. The deck is set among huge trees, one of which houses a tree deck.

Coldwell Banker’s Mike Mitchell and Judy Oberman have the listing.

An East Wilmette farmhouse at 1133 Lake Ave, a block from the Metra and downtown Wilmette, also recently came on the market. At $535,000, it strikes me as priced below 2006 land value for the location.
