A Chicago architecture buff's Christmas

If you are sticking around Chicago for the holidays and find yourself bereft of family and friends or have just decided to bah-humbug the silly season, the Gene Siskel Film Center is screening a couple of interesting films on two of the greats – Antonio Gaudi and home-boy Louis Sullivan.

Antonio Gaudi, the film, is playing Dec. 21 and 22 at 6:15 p.m. and 7:45p.m, while Tall: The American Skyscraper and Louis Sullivan will be showing on Dec. 23 and from Dec. 26-29. Showtimes are 6:15 p.m. and 8p.m. The film apparently centers on the conflict between Sullivan and professional rival Daniel Burnham. Burnham fans can also hunker down with a copy of The Devil in the White City, Erik Larson’s bestselling novel about Burnham’s epic preparations for the Chicago World Fair of 1893 and the maniacal rampage of America’s first serial killer Dr. H. H. Holmes.
