Belgravia Group‘s Zev Salomon takes Joe Zekas on a driving tour of the area around the Union Row Townhomes to show off some of the dramatic changes East Pilsen has seen in the past 10 years.
Just five townhomes were still for sale at Union Row as of last week, at prices starting in the $400s.
I did this exact tour by car about a month and a half ago, and was also surprised to note that many of the retail spaces on that stretch of Halsted, which had previously sat vacant, were filling up.
This area has a lot of potential but still suffers from far too many vacant/underutilized lots which sort of hurts its continuity. If the economy eventually rebounds, it would be nice to see some development in this area that would tie things together and really improve that situation. Right now it still lacks the cohesiveness to encourage one to go out and walk around, as evidenced by this video.
