Mike Wier is one brave developer. Wier, who sits on the board of the Green Bay Packers football team, is heading up the new Casablanca Lofts project at 1736 S Michigan Ave, which of course, is just a short walk from Soldier Field, home of our Chicago Bears.
But Wier is taking his entrepreneurial daring a step further. The developer owns the Wisconsin restaurant Kroll’s West, which sits near Lambeau Field, the home of the Packers. The eatery does such a roaring trade on game day that Wier recently launched Kroll’s South Loop , on the ground floor of Casablanca Lofts. We hear that the diner even features memorabilia from both teams.
At least one Chicagoan has given Wier a hard time about his football loyalties. In the early stages of construction at Casablanca Lofts, one of Wier’s workers “yanked his chain” by writing “Go Bears” in the wet cement.
