A piece of Lakeview East history converted to a special home

In the mid-19th century George Wittbold settled in Chicago and ultimately became one of the premier flower sellers and plant renters in the city. The business was spread over a large area in Lakeview East that included orchards, nurseries, gardens and a greenhouse.

Nicholas Apostal from Coldwell Banker’s Apostal Group is our tour guide at the last remaining building from Wittbold’s business, which includes an elegant 4 bedroom, 3.5 bath condo at 745 W Buckingham.

This historic building has been modernized into one of the most unusual residences in the city. Some of the original craftsmanship has remained intact, including the leaded stained glass and woodwork trim in the vestibule.
