Park Michigan may be in a holding pattern – and that’s a generous characterization, given the recent foreclosure suit filed against the developer – but the site itself remains attractive in the fast-growing South Loop neighborhood.
I strolled past Park Michigan‘s sign last week and snapped this photo of the location (9th Street and Wabash Avenue). That’s just one block west of Grant Park and a stone’s throw from the Roosevelt transit station – but really, you could almost walk to a job in the Loop from this address.
Regardless of what happens with Park Michigan, we’ll keep an eye on this site. It may not be right for an 80-story high-rise, but this location won’t be a parking lot forever.

I agree. I was really excited about the project not for the height or design but for the proposed grocery store. Living close to that corner, without owning a car I was looking forward to a Trader Joe or smaller type store where I could run to get something. Jewel is not too far away but it can be when the weather is not at its best.
Another parking lot across the way is also prime. I have heard rumors that East West University owns that lot. Any idea of what may come of that lot behind Park 1000?
“one block from Grant Park and a stone’s throw from Roosevelts Station”….I’m sorry, but what site would be better for a high-density, 80-story tower?
