You may or may not have noticed that ABC 7 has cancelled 190 North. The last show will air on March 31, and it will be missed by Chicago neighborhood buffs.

A good introduction to 190 North is Lou Canellis’ high-energy video tour of Portgage Park, a popular northwest side neighborhood. The neighborhood’s been in the news recently for a plan to revitalize the 6-corner intersection of Cicero Ave, Milwaukee Ave and Irving Park Rd.

Back in 2010 YoChicago’s Joe Askins visited the neighborhood’s namesake, the 36-acre Portage Park, bounded by Irving Park Road and Central, Berteau, and Long avenues, turned on his camera, and shot everything he saw.

Two years ago I toured a remodeled 4-bedroom, 2-bath home in Portage Park with Izabela Sloma of Sergio & Banks. The move-in ready home at 5758 W Dakin was listed at $259,900 and sold quickly for $252,000.

Four years ago YoChicago’s Patrick Rollens toured Klee Plaza, a then-new 64-unit condo development at 4015 N Milwaukee.
