Wilmette no longer makes available an online list of demolition permits, so I don’t have accurate data about the current pace of teardowns in the village. My impression, however, is that the number of teardowns is up this year over recent years, but fewer than in 2005 or 2006.
I passed three teardowns last week while headed to and from an appointment. The first two were in Indian Hill Estates, and the third on Elmwood Ave in the CAGE – two of Wilmette’s priciest neighborhoods. You can expect the new single-family homes built on these sites to be in the $2M range.
