Ah, the 'burbs – good schools, good lawns, more gangs

Sure, they have roots here and they have fun here, but when they reach the point where they’re starting to get serious, to dabble in real estate and build new identities, they want to move on to the suburbs. We’re talking, of course, about Chicago street gangs. The Chicago Tribune today reports that gangs have been migrating to the suburbs, where police are less equipped to deal with them, especially during the last five years. The Chicago Crime Commission, which is announcing the trend in a report to be released today, maintains that the move to the ‘burbs coincided with gangs dabbling in new realms, including real estate fraud and identity theft.
