If you’ve ever shown up for an open house and found no one manning the door, you’re not alone. In this video, YoChicago’s Joe Zekas stops by Esoterica Condominiums, at 1528 W Jonquil Terrace, and encounters the same frustration. Joe advises patience, since the agent might be showing other buyers around.

It is a constant frustration for realtors and customers alike, that frequently an open-house site is “abandoned” while the on-site agents are busy elsewhere. Aside from the obvious security concerns, this is just “bad business.” If nobody’s home, a guest might just walk away, right? Look, being in the business I know that it’s often difficult to get 2 or 3 agents to work at a project, but in the best of all possible worlds there should be at least 2 “showing” agents plus a “receptionist” (licensed or not) to greet people before they see the place. It’s just a matter of common sense, right?
