An ‘impeccable restoration’ in Wilmette, priced at $2.25M

744 Sheridan Rd, Wilmette

This 6,000 square-foot single-family home at 744 Sheridan Rd in Wilmette was the Wall Street Journal’s House of the Day on Monday. In a 10-photo slideshow, WSJ explained how owners Bob and Nancy Pratt renovated the 1920s home in 2007, shortly after purchasing it for $1.87 million. They “stripped and restained the woodwork…brought in craftsmen to redo the moldings and built-in features…stripped the wallpaper, repainted and redid the electrical and plumbing systems.”

“This home cannot be replaced!” says Realtor Sharon Friedman, but that’s exactly what the Pratts intend to do, because they want to move to Lake Forest. Friedman listed the couple’s home in February at $2.25 million. (The home had been listed from July to December 2010 as well, according to Redfin.)

According to Friedman’s listing and the WSJ writeup, the home has five bedrooms (including a master with a loft sitting room, a beamed ceiling, a balcony, and stained-glass windows), 4.5 baths (including a master with a stained-glass door, a tub, a marble shower, three closets, and a beamed ceiling), three fireplaces, four patios, two decks, a home theater, and a two-car garage with custom wood doors.

The home is in the Central Elementary, Wilmette Junior High, and New Trier Township High School districts. 2009 taxes were $24,278.
