An updated look at a sold-out Montana Row

New construction homes in viable neighborhoods by builders with a track record have been selling before completion during the past several years.

When we last looked in on Montana Row, 25-foot wide rowhomes in the 1500 block of Montana in Lincoln Park, only one of the fourteen homes remained available for sale.

All of the homes have been completed and closed. List prices had been just under $1M, but almost all of the homes sold above that price based on buyer-selected upgrades.

Quite a few new homes sell before they’re listed in the MLS. If you’re interested in new construction in a particular area, your best bet might be to check in the city’s database of building permits, which is updated frequently. You can also try to find a real estate agent who’s knowledgeable about new construction activity in the area – but our experience is that only a very few agents have in-depth familiarity with new construction activity.
