The construction barricades are down at 156 W Superior, and the building looks really great. Noting the flower boxes on a few of the balconies, it appears some of the residents have already moved in. [The grand piano visible through the front window on the second floor is probably a prop for the model unit.]
Even the street level — which incorporates the parking, which most architects haven’t figured out how to deal with — looks fine. But it’s the strength of the building overall — the prismatic, open facade, the geometries created by the steel cables — that makes it stand out. This is the kind of effect that developers should be striving to achieve. Major props should go to the architects, Seattle-based Miller Hull Partnership and local associates Studio Dwell and to the developer, Ranquist Development.
