Avoid ugly streets – travel in the right direction

We’ve noticed a distinct pattern in Chicago and its suburbs: streets that don’t run on a true east-west or north-south axis have, on average, uglier buildings than streets that do.

Need proof? Take a drive down Lincoln, Clybourn, Elston, Milwaukee, Archer, Ogden, Northwest Highway, Rand Road, etc.

So, if the visual quality of your environment matters to you, stick to streets that run due east-west or north-south.
