Walking around Chicago I see a lot of “Beware of neighborhood” signs.
Most of them say “Beware of dog.” Others announce the rules of the local block club. The scariest say “Beware of owner.”
Anyone else see any “Beware of neighborhood” signs out there?

the biggest beware of neighborhood signs are the daunting “for sale” signs up and down the block.
The “Beware of neighborhood” signs? The Chicago Police Department’s blue flashing security cameras.
Security doors on virtually every house……..nothing says “beware of neighborhood” like that.
Pirate,
Spoken like a man who’s spent too much time on the south side.
Oh yeah,
A few years ago I drove through my old neighborhood. It actually looks better because the trees have matured into healthy adulthood.
The only other thing I noticed was the security doors. Almost every house…….and this is in what was and still is a solidly working/middle class area.
Security doors are a big business on the south and west sides.
Trust me on this one folks…I drive through a lot of North Side neighborhoods and see A LOT of security doors – even in “safe” areas. Why? Well, some people think they are just so darn pretty!
Security doors are disgusting. I realize they have a function and keep a lot of people from having unwanted dinner guests, but they are just plain ugly. Not all of them. But most.
Add steel pilings in vacant lots to prevent cars being abandoned on them and becoming residences for the homeless.
And keep an eye out for steel grating over the windows on the local school or bulletproof glass in the windows.
