Back in September, the Sun-Times reported that groundbreaking was imminent for Broadway 3030 in Lakeview East. I drove through the neighborhood earlier this morning, and the ground is still intact at 3030 N Broadway, but that may change at some point this winter.
JFJ Development President Jon Zitzman says ground will break on the mixed-use development within two months. “If not in December, then in January,” he says.
When it’s finished, the Hartshorne Plunkard-designed development will feature 53 one- to three-bedroom condos and a full-service Dominick’s grocery store. Our most recent posts on the development have said that the Dominick’s is scheduled to open in the spring of 2010, but Zitzman declined to offer a timetable for completion.
Does anyone have any more information on this development? I drove by today and there is still nothing going on.
I live in the ‘hood and this one particularly pains me to see being postponed. We desperately need that Dominicks. In fact if I meet any buyers of this development I will buy them some beer. A few years of shopping at CVS and White Hen can turn you onto a diet that would make any nutritionist cringe.

It sounds like the permits went through this week and construction should be starting very soon. Since I don’t get the chance to see the site often, any updates would be appreciated!
Our foundation permit was only issued this week. While it is simply too cold to break ground now, our main issue is with Com Ed relocating all of the existing power lines. Once that issue is resolved, we will be full speed ahead.
