Buyers dish: why they chose Catalpa Gardens Condominiums

Potential buyers check out Catalpa Gardens

We asked two buyers of condos at Catalpa Gardens Condominiums why they chose this project, and here’s how they answered:

  • “I live in the Twin Cities now but have been coming to Edgewater for the past six to seven years. Really, I bought this place because I found the right place,” says Mark Udden. Udden bought a two-bedroom unit for $318,900 and a parking place for $41,900. Though from a suburb of Minneapolis, he says he’s always felt at home in Chicago – especially in Edgewater. He’s planning to switch jobs to relocate here permanently. “It looks like to me that this neighborhood is on its way up,” he says. “It’s sort of unpretentious, but incredibly diverse. . .I feel comfortable here, just like anyone.”
  • “I just thought it was a good opportunity at one of the first new buildings in Edgewater,” says Bev Cotton, who bought a one-bedroom, 803-square-foot unit for about $206,000. Cotton, who lives in Libertyville, was one of the first buyers three years ago. She says she considers this condo an investment and hopes to sell or rent it out.
