Recruiting ads for new rental service leasing agents on Craigslist lure the naïve into thinking they’ll join a fast-growing elite firm, be trained for a career with high earnings potential, and be supported with the latest technology.
The reality is that working at a rental service is a miserable experience for many new recruits, who wash out of the business without netting what they would have earned at a minimum wage job. Rental services aren’t continually recruiting because they’re growing quickly, but because they have very high turnover.
If you’ve worked at one of Chicago’s rental services, chime in with a comment telling new recruits what they can really expect. You can also send a confidential email with your experiences to yojoe at yochicago dot com.
