Case-Shiller – Chicago home and condo prices continue gains

It’s the last Tuesday of the month, a/k/a Case-Shiller Tuesday, and the results are in for January home price trends.

The Case-Shiller indices for Chicago showed growing year-over-year gains.

The seasonally-adjusted index for metro-area Chicago single-family homes gained .65% from the previous month and rose year-over-year by3.35%. This places the current index at price levels prevailing in June of 2001.

The seasonally-adjusted condo index showed a month-over-month gain of .44% and a year-over-year gain of 6.05%. That index is now at November 2000 levels.

The S&P/Case-Shiller Home Price Indices are calculated monthly using a three-month moving average and published with a two month lag.
