Centro 18: Coming…when?

The folks at Kimball Hill Homes have a lot on their plate at the moment, so it should come as no surprise that one of the company’s long-delayed projects is still sitting in limbo.

Centro 18‘s sales center was supposed to open in fall 2006. Then it was supposed to open in spring 2007. Nowadays, the sign at the development’s site near 18th and Peoria streets in Pilsen simply says, “Sales Center Opening Coming Soon.” Kimball Hill’s phone number, once featured prominently on the sign, has since been tagged with graffiti and covered with the project’s Web site address, Centro18.com

This morning, a receptionist with Kimball Hill Homes told me that a sales center and models would be ready sometime this summer. Beyond that, she could only repeat the same old facts: 398 condos, soft lofts and townhouses ranging in size from 600 to 2,400 square feet and in price from $190s on up.

What do you think, Yo reader? Kimball Hill’s Parkside of Old Town and Park Boulevard developments made it off the ground, but does Centro 18 have a chance?
