CHA buys the farm

There’s more than one way to interpret the headline, but Skyline has the scoop on the literal reading:

The Chicago Housing Authority is closing in on a deal to buy an urban farm near Cabrini-Green. But details on the agreement — and the future of the farm — are sparse, as the agency and the owners of the site are staying quiet for now.

CHA’s board of commissioners last week voted to seek approval from the federal government to buy two pieces of land at 434 and 454 W. Chicago Ave., parcels that currently house the Chicago Lights urban farm. The land, they said in a resolution, would be “included in redevelopment of the former Cabrini Green sites.”
