Now we head from the Gold Coast to Pilsen, where we’ve been watching the progress of Lipe Property Company‘s Chantico Lofts at 1061 W 16th St. The facade now has some really striking, bright orange detailing between the top-floor windows (click the picture for a larger view). Judging by the rendering, the pattern will be limited to the top floor, but does anyone else think the developer should just go all out with this building and checkerboard the whole thing? If you check out the new rear balconies (pictured inside), you can tell that this otherwise ordinary building is asserting itself through its use of color. With the grand tradition of mural painting in Pilsen, Chantico could probably get away with even more bold strokes. The development has 42 lofts with one to three bedrooms, 12-foot exposed timber ceilings, and exposed brick and ductwork. Prices range from the $260s to the $390s.
