The Chicago Association of Realtors has scheduled a two-day “Heroes Welcome Home” program for next month that will teach Realtors how to address the housing needs of military veterans and their families. Seminars at the event will be devoted topics ranging from the basics of VA loans and the Fair Housing Act to the physical and mental disabilities some soldiers will face.
The event is a Realtor-only affair and isn’t intended to educate buyers directly about these issues, but you can browse the “Heroes Welcome Home” website and find a lot of information and links that may come in handy if you or someone you know is a veteran. One navigation tab labeled “Housing Partners & Grants” looks especially promising but so far does not direct to anything. Check back later to see if anything pops up.
