Chicago auction action: Northbrook condo under the hammer

Click for larger imageA one-bedroom condo in a Northbrook building called Mission Hills will be auctioned on March 6 with a suggested opening bid of $200,000 – nearly $170,000 lower than the unit’s market-rate price. We hear that the resale unit, at 3851 Mission Hills Road, originally had two bedrooms and a den, but the previous owner knocked down a wall between one of the bedrooms and the den and converted the unit into a one-bedroom unit with a den (perhaps that partially explains the price reduction?). The condo has a fireplace, hardwood floors in the living room and a master bath with a whirlpool tub and a double-sized shower. The unit also has a deck and a view of a golf course.

Rick Levin & Associates will auction the condo at 7pm on March 6 at The Holiday Inn at 5300 Touhy Ave, Skokie. Several open houses will be held in February.
