Chicago chosen to host green building conference

LA may have the Oscars, but now Chicago has the 2007 Greenbuild International Conference and Expo. The US Green Building Council has decided to shift the big event from the City of Angels to the Windy City of Green Roofs. The conference will be held at the new LEED-certified West Building at McCormick Place on November 7 – 9. Who cares that we only got the event because the convention facilities in LA were already booked that weekend?

In a press release, the US Green Building Council pays tribute to Chicago’s impressive green building credentials. We knew Da Mayor was committed to making new-construction government buildings LEED certified, but Yo’s truly didn’t realize how many environmentally friendly buildings had popped up in Chicago in recent years – including the Target in McKinley Park, according to this press release. By the way, enviro-friendly building Web site GreenBean is encouraging Chicago developers to upload details of new green buildings.
