Chicago Magazine and YoChicago, in the vicinity of Canal and Archer

At the opening of his video tour of an Armour Square / Chinatown loft Chicago Magazine’s Dennis Rodkin noted that, on the very cloudy day of his visit “you can’t see all the details of the view this condo has …” The condo has, according to Rodkin, a “great location” with “the city right there at your fingertips.”

In the above video, shot several months ago, I walked the area just southwest of where Rodkin shot his video and, based on the details I saw, wondered whether it was an “awesome folly” for developer See Wong to consider building in the area.

The 2-bedroom, 3-bath condo Rodkin visited is at 2310 S Canal St, at the busy intersection of Archer and Canal. The unit was purchased for $300,000 in 2005 and is currently for sale for $525,000.

Two other units in the building are currently for sale. Unit 315 is a 1-bedroom, bath-and-a-half purchased for $240,000 in 2005 and currently listed at $124,000 as a short sale. Unit 608, also a short sale, is listed at $139,900.
