Chicagoans see the light in Lockport

Our work for the Chicago Tribune’s Spring Festival of Homes has recently taken me to some of Chicago’s far-flung suburbs.

Earlier this week I was in Lockport, at Creekside Estates, just off I-355. As difficult as it might be for some residents of downtown Chicago to fathom, city dwellers have been moving to Lockport. I-355 provides relatively quick (under 30 minutes) access to employment centers in Naperville and Downers Grove, among others.

Another draw is the new homes. The large, light-filled model in the video tour above, for example, starts in the mid-$400s. Part 2 of the model tour is at YouTube, as well as a tour of another Beechen & Dill home at Creekside Estates, where prices start in the mid-$300s.
