City nudges Little Village project forward

The Chicago Community Development Commission approved a plan for the city to purchase a three-story manufacturing building at 4400 W. 26th, in Little Village, if the owners don’t soon reach a deal with the builder trying to redevelop it and adjacent property.
Lunn Partners, LLC plans a 40-acre mixed-use development between 26th and 28th streets from Kostner to Kenton. Lunn already owns about 36 acres of the land, but has been unable to reach a deal on the manufacturing building.

Tentative plans for the development include 80 to more than 100 affordable and market-rate housing units, commercial development on 26th and an institutional component, including a new community center.
