(Visited 3,501 times, 1 visits today)

Cityfront Place, 400 N McClurg Court, is a 39-story, 480-unit apartment tower that was completed in 1991. It’s located on the north side of the Chicago River in Streeterville.

The development originally included two 12-story mid-rise buildings that have since converted to condos. The Habitat Company was the developer of Cityfront Place, Gelick Foran & Associates was the architect and McHugh Construction was the general contractor.

The apartments

Cityfront Place offers studio, convertible, 1- and 2-bedrooms in 16 different floor plans. Floor plans and near real-time rent and availability information are accessible online.

One- and two-bedrooms have balconies. All of the units have better closet space than many new buildings and larger bathroom vanities. The building’s square floor plate resulted in “shoebox with a window at the end” studio and convertible layouts. Some may find furniture placement challenging in the angular living areas of one- and two-bedroom corner units.

The apartments have been recently updated with 42-inch kitchen cabinets, granite counter tops, and stainless steel appliances including built-in microwaves, electric ranges and dishwashers. Units have wood-like laminate flooring in living areas and carpeted bedrooms.

Short-term furnished apartments are available at Cityfront Place through Habitat Corporate Suites and VIP Corporate housing.

Views. The tower portion of the building is rotated at a 45-degree angle from its parking podium to maximize views of Lake Michigan, the Chicago River and the city skyline. The river views will remain unobstructed until the Chicago Spire site is developed, at which point they may take a bit of a hit.

Lizzie McNeill’s Irish Pub, which has had mixed reviews, is on the south side of the building.

Bowling and movie buffs can hit the lanes at Lucky Strike, just a block north and a block east then head downstairs to catch a movie at AMC River East.
