Closings underway at Park Monroe

At the beginning of February, Joe reminded us that closings at Park Monroe, the office tower conversion at 55 E Monroe St in the Loop, would begin by the end of the month. To mark the occasion, Chicago‘s Dennis Rodkin posted a video yesterday that shows him touring a model unit with Glenstar Properties principals Rand Diamond and Larry Debb.

For the past three years, Glenstar has been converting the top 10 floors of the Mid-Continental Plaza office building into condos, and according to Rodkin’s writeup, 130 of the 162 condos are currently under contract.

In the video, the developers say that Park Monroe condos feel like homes, not cubicles, because they opened up the floor plates by breaking up the corridors. In the last segment of the video, Rodkin and the developers step out into the construction area on the 48th floor.
