Construction at 2028 West Division set for June

Foundation work at 2028 West Division Street in Wicker Park, Chicago

In early November I noticed that foundation work had begun at 2028 W Division St in Wicker Park on Ranquist Development‘s newest six-unit building. However, there’s been little movement on the Osterhaus McCarthy-designed building since then. That should change next month, according to developer-agent Karen Ranquist, who tells me in an e-mail that construction should resume in “early to mid June.”

An updated development brochure (PDF) is now available on Ranquist’s Web site, and it includes the pricing for the five available condos in the building. All of the three-bedroom / two-bath condos have 1,627 to 1,650 square feet of space, and prices run from the $590s (or $369 per square foot) for a second-floor unit to the $780s (or $479 per square foot) for the priciest top-floor unit.

Previous renderings of 2028 West Division have been pretty abstract and minimal, but this latest version from the brochure has some more detail and shows the building in the context of Division Street.

When plans were unveiled in 2007, the development went by the name of “SoHo.” Ranquist has since dropped that name, but the development still seems to be geared towards a young, urban crowd, judging from the hipsters that populate the new rendering.
