All the glass is in and most of the parking structure is enclosed at The Gammonley Group‘s 757 Orleans @ Chicago, and now a white coat of paint is inching its way across the gray concrete exterior of the River North tower. The 22-story high-rise at 757 N Orleans St (the southeast corner of Orleans and Chicago Avenue) topped out around the end of spring and should be seeing its first deliveries within the next month.
I like the way the blue-green windows play against the painted concrete, but the new walls around parking structure resemble graph paper more than anything, and they add nothing to the streetscape. A string of vibrant retail spaces at the ground level might add a little balance, but I wouldn’t count on it.
