Construction checkup: Another spire delayed

If you’ve been anticipating the placement of Trump International Hotel & Tower‘s crowning spire, you’ll have to wait a couple more weeks. Chicago Tribune critic Blair Kamin reported on his Skyline blog today that the 227-foot spire probably will not go up until the weekend of Nov. 15 and 16. Crews originally planned to erect the spire on Oct. 25 and 26.

When finished, Trump will be 1,362 feet tall, making it the tallest reinforced concrete building on the continent.

I shot the picture at above left yesterday on my way back from 200 North Dearborn, Aqua and Mandarin Oriental Tower. Next to it is a rendering that should give you some idea of how the spire will look.
