Superior 110 Superior 110 rendering

We received an email last night from a reader identified as “David” requesting an update on JFJ Development Company‘s Superior 110 high-rise at 110 W Superior St in River North:

Any news on Superior 110 (the former Opus 110)’s progress/sold percentage? The Very blue windows are starting to go in.

Unfortunately, we haven’t been able to reach anyone from the @properties sales team to get a sales update on Superior 110, but we were able to snap a photo at the construction site a few days ago.

As David notes, the windows are starting to go up, and they’re as blue as they come. In fact, the windows are much bluer than those in the rendering, which seem to just reflect the color of the sky.

As we mentioned in an update in February, the completed building is supposed to have 27 stories, so it looks like there is still a little ways to go before the building is topped out. We’ll try to add a sales update later this afternoon.

  • The glass is very unusual for Chicago. I’m usually in favor of more transparent glass, but this might work better considering all the blah concrete towers around it.

  • I don’t know if that’s a sufficient reason because China supplies the glass for most of Chicago’s (and I’m guessing the US/world too) towers.

  • We are currently pouring the 27th floor, and the building will be “topped off” within two weeks. Glass is completed through the 21st floor. We are 75% sold, and closings will begin in early November.

While some may feel that the windows are too blue, which is fine, the overwhelming response is that people love the color. Whether or not they are from China has nothing to do with the color that we selected.
