Marquette Companies has begun construction on Catalyst, 630 W Washington in the West Loop. When complete the 22-story building will encompass 223 apartments, 175 garage parking spaces and 15,168 square feet of ground floor retail space.
According to Marquette’s website, 89% of the retail space is “pre-leased to a credit tenant.” When we first wrote about Catalyst, nearly six years ago, a 24-hour Walgreen’s was slated for the site and the development included 224 parking spaces. The current description mentions a rooftop pool, which wasn’t mentioned on the condo-version website that remains active.
Catalyst is the first to begin construction of the proposed high-rise apartment projects proposed in the West Loop.
The above photo, which shows two caisson drilling rigs in action, was shot early yesterday afternoon. A hat tip to the delivery driver who allowed me to climb up on his truck to get the shot.
