When I spoke with Thomas Hall from Rubloff Residential Properties a few weeks ago about The Rotunda, which is located at 2741 N Sheffield Ave in Lincoln Park, we discussed some of the measures the developer is taking to mitigate noise from the neighboring Brown Line tracks, which can be seen behind and to the left of the building in the photo above.
Hall says the developer plans to add extra insulation in the walls and install triple-pane windows to cut down on noise. I hope that does the trick, because from where I was standing, I could clearly hear the “Doors closing” announcement from the idle train.
Sheffield was bustling when I was there, which probably has plenty to do with the nearby train station, but The Rotunda is also located next door to a small shopping plaza that is anchored by a Potbelly Sandwich Works.
Construction on the building is scheduled to be finished by the end of the year, and it looks like they’re well on their way. As I wrote last month, prices on all units in this building have been reduced by $25,000. Two-bedroom / two-bath condos are now priced from the $490s to the $570s, and the two townhouses are priced in the $720s and the $750s.
