Plan Commission approves three new developments

The Chicago Plan Commission gave the green light to three developments Friday. Here’s a quick overview:

  • Loomis-Laflin Lofts, LLC, got the commission’s nod for a development at 1500 S Loomis St in the University Village neighborhood. Loomis-Laflin will rehabilitate an existing five-story loft building and construct a second seven-story building to the east. Together the buildings will contain approximately 200 residential units. This property was rezoned and annexed from the Roosevelt Square development.
  • 1935 S. Wabash, LLC, got approval for a seven-story mixed-use development at 1935 S Wabash Ave in the South Loop. The building will have approximately 180 residential units, 10,750 square feet of ground-floor retail space and 178 off-street parking spaces.
  • 4600 Schubert, LLC got approval for a large residential project on the vacant site at 4600 W Schubert Ave in Kelvyn Park. The development will consist of 90 residential units in 24 three-unit buildings and three six-unit buildings. Ten percent of the units will be affordable housing, and one of the six-unit buildings will have a green roof. Plans also call for about 7,000 square feet of outdoor space and at least one parking space per unit. The project will extend Parker Avenue to the east and connect it to a newly created north-south street, which will connect with Schubert Avenue.
