SoNo East rendering, courtesy of Curbed Chicago

There’s your building, folks. California-based architect Adam Berkelhamer sent Curbed new renderings of SoNo East, the 22-story, rental-only companion to the existing SoNo condo tower at 860 W Blackhawk St. Alongside the new images, Mark Boyer posted the original design by Booth Hansen, which called for matching towers positioned side-by-side.

  • Has anyone noticed that Sono residents are apparantly free to alter the look of the balconies by enclosing them. This is terrific news and the board should be complimented for this forward looking attitude towards alteration of the original design!!!

  • I hadn’t noticed that, Brad.

I did notice, however, that you’ve previously posted a very positive take on SoNo here under another screen name, from the same IP address, which is assigned to SoNo by its ISP.

There’s a pattern of highly suspect comments involving SoNo on this site. If they trace to anyone with a commercial interest in the builiding they violate FTC regulations and may violate other consumer fraud and deceptive trade practices laws.

Readers are well advised to take any positive comments on SoNo from anonymous commenters with a pound of salt.

  • Thanks Joe for keeping the promoters honest. I had noticed the highly suspect comments as well. To your point though, how is enclosing a balcony positive? Doesn’t this create a random look to the building?

  • We’ve been informed by a board member at the building that this enclosure has not been authorized.
