CVS to anchor Aqua's retail space

Aqua, 225 N Columbus Dr, ChicagoIt’s tough enough getting developers to talk about the progress of their latest residential developments. It’s almost impossible to get them to discuss their plans for their retail spaces. That’s why today’s announcement from Magellan Development seems so noteworthy: Something’s actually happening!

Some folks probably think that a CVS/pharmacy doesn’t have a “wow factor” sufficient for a new luxury high-rise, but I’m sure the residents in Magellan’s Aqua will appreciate the ability to restock the cabinets of their elegant stone baths without ever really leaving home. The retailer will occupy about a third of Aqua’s 37,000 square feet of commercial space, according to a new media release from Magellan. The store will open this summer.

Magellan still hasn’t secured a new tenant for Aqua’s hotel levels, nor has it started construction on Lakeshore East‘s grocery store, which will be located on the development’s interior, bordering its six-acre park.

Aqua, located at 225 N Columbus Dr on the Near East Side, will have 87 stories comprising 267 residential condominiums, 476 rental residences and as many as 210 hotel rooms. Prices of its remaining condos were from the $650s to $3 million at last check.
