Exposed brick in Chicago's Englewood neighborhood

Exposed brick in Englewood

Although Englewood has its share of problems, there are people working to make it a better neighborhood. Judging from these pictures, a lot of work also went into this three-bedroom two-bath condo conversion at 501 W 60th Place, near the Red and Green Lines.

Working professionals – and a cop – live in the nine-unit building, the Craigslist ad notes. The unit underwent renovations a little more than a year ago and now includes some pretty nice finishes. For instance, the master bath has a Jacuzzi tub with power jets, and the living room features exposed brick and a gas fireplace. An eat-in kitchen features stainless steel appliances, granite counters and a dishwasher. Hardwood floors, bay windows and 12-feet-high ceilings ought to give the place a light, airy feel.

If you’re worried about secured parking, the building has a steel rear-exit door that opens onto a gated parking area.

The ad says similar units in the building have been appraised for between $220,000 to $230,000, but this owner is willing to let you have it for $176,000.
