Deal of the day: Free upgrades at Metropolitan Tower condo closeout

Metropolitan Tower

The 20-foot high blue light atop Metropolitan Tower, an adaptive reuse condo project at 310 S Michigan Ave, might have symbolized learning when Encyclopedia Britannica was housed there, but these days it’s signalling a big Blue Light Special.

With more than 90 percent of units sold, according to the developer, Metropolitan is giving away free upgrades on all finished condos. Prices range from the mid-$300s for one-bedrooms, from the mid-$500s for two-bedrooms and from the $900s for three-bedrooms.

Architects Graham, Anderson, Probst and White, the firm behind the Wrigley Building and Civic Opera House, designed the structure, which was completed in 1924, as the Straus Building. Buyers who purchase now can be in their units by December.
