Dearborn North is an 8-story, 134-unit vintage mid-rise in the Gold Coast.
The building was completed in the early 1920s. It was designed by Maurice Bein, a Russian-born architect who was in his 20s at the time. Bein designed scores of Chicago buildings before turning to general contracting at the age of 33.
The neoclassical brick building has a limestone base punctuated by rounded arches.
Dearborn North is book-ended by contemporary high-rises.
The apartments
Dearborn North tower has a mix of studio, convertible and one-bedroom apartments.
Rent ranges are available online.
The apartments were renovated some years ago and have 9-foot ceilings and hardwood parquet floors. Some of the units have built-in bookcases in a niche that probably once housed a Murphy bed.
Apartments have kitchens with gas ranges. Some of the kitchens have dishwashers and built-in microwaves. One-bedrooms have a dining area adjacent to the kitchen.
Closet space is generally good. The apartments have radiator heat. Window air-conditioning units are available at additional cost.
Amenities, services, policies

There’s a dry cleaners on the first floor of the building.
